Thank you Simoneon Center for
helping my daughter with strengthing her core, stabilizing her
pelvic/hips area, and coordinating the right/left hemisphere for motor
coordination. She was very uncoordinated prior to your treatment and
after the wonderful service your Center provided, she went on to play
many sports that included: soccer, figure skating, tennis, volleyball,
cross country running, and lacrosse. I have been a firm believer
in balancing the intellectual growth with sports and she graduated high
school as an Honor Society Member, Class President, and Captain of the
the Lacrosse Team. Thank you for putting her on the track to success!

In
the second grade, my son was having trouble sitting in his seat and
paying attention. The teacher referred to him as "slow". I knew that
was not correct. After much searching and testing, I brought him to the
Simoneon Center. He received a full evaluation and the causes of his
school problems were identified.
Six months of therapy resulted in a complete turn around. In 2000 he
received a full college scholarship valued at $120,000 and recently
graduated "summa cum laude." Thank you Simoneon Center for believing
parents and searching for the hidden clues that most people miss. You
are the BEST!

"I am grateful to Simoneon
Center for helping my daughter with her Sensory Integration problems.
The therapy was excellent; they educated me as a parent, they gave
me valuable leads for speech therapists, doctors and classes. My
daughter's problems have improved over the years and we now lead the
appropriate life style with the correct educational approach, and
daily sensory diet. This has made it possible for my daughter to
continue her educational and social development."

"My son was a patient of Mary's
from the time he was 3 months old. Without her help, he would not
be the independent, fully functioning, confident, bright, cheerful
little boy he is today.
When he was born, our doctors told us he would most likely never walk or
talk properly, most likely a lifetime of severe learning disability, all
due to an intrauterine stroke suffered approximately 48 hours before I
delivered. Mary taught all of us ways to use stretching, massage and
various forms of exercise to help our son to achieve every milestone.
He is now almost 4 years old and succeeding well in preschool. We, as a
whole family, are grateful to Mary for her caring attitude and
insightful knowledge."

We brought our daughter (age 10) to
the Children's Health Council for a diagnostic Multidisciplinary Team
Evaluation. Her ability to attend to tasks at school and home, poor
posture, clumsiness, as well as her social-emotional development had
become a major problem in our everyday lives. Psychological,
educational, cognitive, and occupational assessments revealed that our
daughter has a developmental coordination disorder and sensory
integration dysfunction. In addition she was struggling with low self
esteem and anxiety related to her school performance. CHC referred us to
an occupational therapist for weekly treatments.
We chose Mary Scholer at Simoneon
Pediatric Development Center for our daughters' therapy. The
occupational therapy she received at Simoneon enabled her to understand
and accept the challenges that she was faced with. She developed
appropriate skills including "heavy work" and music therapy to improve
her ability to self regulate and insure that she was at the proper
arousal state to complete classroom and homework tasks.
The sensory integration treatment
improved her ability to process multisensory input and to be organized
thus also increasing her performance both at school and home. We have
also noted an improvement in her handwriting and speed at which she
processes information. As her coordination, posture, and endurance have
improved, she also began to participate in P.E. with a positive affect.
All these changes have contributed to her sense of accomplishment and
success.
Now at age 13 she voluntarily
participated in her first sports competition. After two years of
therapeutic horseback riding she rode at a Stanford Schooling Show and
won fifth place out of thirteen equestrians in the Junior Hunt Seat
Equitation class. She does her schoolwork and homework independently and
currently maintains a 3.9 GPA. We believe that God led us to Mary
Scholer in order to receive the intervention that our daughter required
to meet her occupational needs.

Jeana Marie was less than 6 months
old when I realized she wasn't developing like other babies. Her
pediatrician told us not to worry because 'all children develop at
different rates.' While that might have been comforting at the time, it
proved to only delay the inevitable.
We took our daughter to another
pediatrician who told us Jeana had obvious 'soft signs' of neurological
impact. Another doctor ran an MRI and confirmed gross neurological
impact. Both doctors encouraged us to get OT and other services
immediately. That's how we came to bring our daughter to Simoneon
Center.
At 11 months, our daughter didn't
hold her head up for more than 4-5 minutes, she couldn't hold her
bottle, she wasn't attempting to crawl or even sit up unaided. Mary
Scholar had us complete a detailed assessment of Jeana's capabilities,
and then spent over 90 minutes with Jeana testing her range of motion,
strength and endurance. Mary provided us with weekly assignments to work
on Jeana's various developmental needs. The sessions were hands-on, with
the therapist spending the entire time with Jeana, while demonstrating
to us how to continue the work/exercise throughout the week.
I credit Simoneon center with three
great achievements. First, the early intervention and immediate
improvement in Jeana's gross and fine motor development. Second, over
the subsequent yearsthe flexibility of the staff to accommodate Jeana's
needs and moods to maximize the effectiveness of each session. And
third, the benefit of training us, the parents of a child with
disabilities. Simoneon Center empowered ourselves with knowledge and
encouragement to keep setting goals for our daughter.
Today, we have a 13-year old girl that
is happier, healthier and smarter as a direct result of the work of
Simoneon Center.
